Online ITR Filing — Step by Step
Step 1: Income Tax Portal Login
incometax.gov.in pe jaao. PAN se login karo (ya Aadhaar OTP se).
Step 2: "File Income Tax Return" Select Karo
"e-File" → "Income Tax Returns" → "File Income Tax Return" → Assessment Year choose karo (2025-26 for FY 2024-25).
Step 3: Correct ITR Form Choose Karo
Apni situation ke hisaab se ITR-1 ya ITR-2 select karo.
Step 4: Pre-filled Data Verify Karo
Portal automatically Form 26AS aur AIS se data pre-fill karta hai. Har field verify karo — salary, TDS, bank interest, etc.
Step 5: Deductions Fill Karo
- Section 80C — PF, PPF, LIC, ELSS, home loan principal (max ₹1.5L)
- Section 80D — health insurance premium
- Section 24b — home loan interest (max ₹2L)
- HRA exemption (if not claimed by employer)
Step 6: Tax Compute Karo aur Verify Karo
Portal automatically tax compute karta hai. Agar tax due hai toh pay karo (Challan 280). Agar refund hai toh bank account verify karo.
Step 7: E-Verify Karein (Mandatory)
Submit ke baad e-verification zaroori hai — warna ITR processed nahi hota.
- Aadhaar OTP (fastest — recommended)
- Net banking
- Demat account
- Physical ITR-V signed copy Bengaluru CPC ko bhejein (if no e-verify)
Old Regime vs New Regime — Kya Choose Karein?
Default ab New Tax Regime hai. Agar Old Regime mein jaana hai toh explicitly select karna hoga aur return file karte waqt declare karna hoga.
- New Regime better hai agar deductions kam hain
- Old Regime better hai agar 80C + 80D + home loan = ₹3L+ deductions hain
Refund Kab Aata Hai?
ITR verify hone ke baad — generally 7–45 days mein refund bank account mein aata hai. Track karo: incometax.gov.in → "Refund/Demand Status".
Agar refund nahi aaya 60 din mein — check karo ki bank account validated hai ya nahi. Reissue request bhi de sakte ho portal pe.
